HENRIK LINDSTRAND
Born 1974 in Gothenburg, grew up in Örebro, in the middle of
Sweden. Started playing the piano at age 3, much encouraged by his
grand-father who played old evergreens by the grand, in spite of
only having eight fingers. The early school-years led to an
increasing interest of playing all sorts of music. From age 14,
Henrik was involved in rock-bands, musicals, jazzensembles,
bigbands and vocal groups. After finishing high-school, he attended
Fridhems Folkhögskola in southern Sweden to study jazz-piano,
theory, ear-training and arranging. In 1994, Henrik moves to
Copenhagen to study at the Rhytmic Conservatory. Graduating in -98
after taking classes for Carsten Dahl, Lars Jansson, Ole Koch
Hansen, Henrik Sveidahl, among others. Developing a solid network
in Denmark and Sweden, Henrik becomes a sideman for other artists
such as Jennifer Brown, Ginman/Jørgensen, Drori Hansen Furniture,
Lars HUG, Tim Christensen, Søren Sko, Shirley, recording albums or
touring. Also working with his own projects, ambient jazz group
Factum Est and jazz quartet Kung Keso among others, Henrik remains
focused on the broader picture. In early -99 Henrik is hired for a
tour with Kashmir, a three piece rockband (having released their
third album "The Good Life" at that point). This leads to a new
direction for Henrik and after 150 intense concerts across Europe,
he becomes a member of the band in 2000. After building their own
studio in Copenhagen, Kashmir produced the album Zitilites in 2003,
(receiving four Danish music awards). The latest album, produced
with Tony Visconti, was released in October 2005 in 15 countries.
When not touring or recording with the band, Henrik has his own
home-studio, working on various projects, such as writing
string-arrangements for other aritsts (Swan Lee, Sort Sol, Tim
Christensen, Calle Real among others) and making electronic music.
After participating in american filmcomposer Hummie Mann´s
masterclass in March 2006, Henrik decided to explore filmmusic
and
film-scoring, and since August same year, he was signed to Good
Songs Publishing as a filmscore-writer.
Lindstrand has just completed the score for "Ekko" the new
feature film by Anders Morgethaler. The score was recorded by the
Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and will be in danish cinemas from
December 7th.
