Late winter 03 I entered a competion on VLR [Vejles Local Radio]. Having already purchased the 5 different cd and the vinyl version of Zitilites, the prospect og winning a jewelcase edition of the album was not the reason why i entered. [I hope that a bands like Arcade Fire never pull that one cover per face stunt..]
The radiostation held 4 competions like the one I entered - monday to thursday and then on friday, they would draw lots for the prize that caught my attention in the first place - a chance to meet the band at the prerelease of "Rocket Brothers" at Dagmar Teatret. So when I won the initial competition, I was thinking; "I just won a 25% procent chance of meeting Kashmir" where others might dwell on the fact that they just won a cd and consider the other thing as a bonus. But I guess that's often the way it is with these competitions.
Anyway - Friday was not my lucky day. But my girlfriend at the time had also entered the contest and won - and to my luck friday was her day! So I won the chance to go see my all time rolemodels and she won the ability to give me the greatest gift i've probably ever recieved.
After a painful trainride, due to a clash between a cramed train and a recent kneeoperation, we arrived to a night in Copenhagen, which will never escape my consciousness.
A few days later I recieved the cd, which I had nearly forgotten [damn ingrate!] As it turned out, this was an edition I had never seen before, nor ever since. The cover is ever so slighty altered - on the typical striped Kashmir ridge, K-A-S-H-M-I-R was written in the white spaces.
All of the sudden - this insignificant spinoff turned into a rare collectors item. I wear it round my neck in a turqouiseish custom made velour bag whereever i go....
Kidding - but you guys know how we Kashmirtroopers obsess about the little things.
